South Lyon Fire Department

SLFD protects over 12,000 residents living the in City of South Lyon (southwest Oakland County). Our community ISO rating is a "3" (rating is 1 to 10 with 1 being ideal), which is only one of only 30 departments the State of Michigan with this rating. This means our residents enjoy decreased fire insurance costs.

SLFD is a member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm Association  (MABAS) 3201 and maintains reciprocal automatic mutual aid agreements with the Lyon Township Fire Department (Oakland County) and Green Oak Township Fire Department (Livingston County). SLFD also provides mutual aid assistance to Washtenaw County.

All South Lyon firefighters are part-time / paid-on-call. South Lyon firefighters live in the community in which they serve and provide for significant cost savings to our residents.

The fire station is staffed with two firefighters on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Off hours response is handled by on-call staff.
